An Ex-Indian Army Officer from the Corps of Engineers (Madras Sappers). She retired in 2009 after 9 years of service with the Indian Army.  She has trained women and gentlemen cadets (Officer Cadre) of the Indian Army at Officers Training Academy, Chennai, in Basic Military Training, and has also trained other ranks of the Indian Army at Madras Engineer Group and Centre, Bangalore, in Combat Engineering.
Maj Bhavana has been a volunteer  from 2010, with Prajwala Hyderabad, an NGO that has been working in the field of Anti Human Trafficking for the last 2 decades plus, and Swakshatra attempts to use this learning in its anti-trafficking initiatives in the future.

Served the Indian Armed Forces in the capacity of a regulatory officer. She currently works as a freelancer and has a keen interest in developing high performing teams through leadership and motivation. Issues related to women and development of women is close to her heart, and Capt Smitha ensures commitment and involvement in various corporate and social events to support the same.

Did her Ph.D. in Applied Biology from Mumbai University and then went on to work with the world’s largest CROs for more than 10 years. She now works as a freelancer. Prevention of any form of abuse in children is something very close to her heart.
